Question: What is the difference between sanded and un-sanded grout?

Answer: An un-sanded grout is used in grout joints less than 1/8” wide, as sanded grout will not pack into joints 1/8” or less. Sanded grout has a fine sand aggregate that keeps the grout from shrinking in grout joints larger than 1/8”. Most glass, metal and marble tiles will require an un-sanded grout to keep from scratching the finish.
